AmorePacific opened South Korea’s first beauty “refill station” as a trial in its new company-owned Gwanggyo store in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. Consumers can fill a container made from coconut shells with the product of their choice, after which they measure the weight and pay per gram.
There are 15 different shampoos and body washes. The pricing is different by product but generally, the consumer will save roughly 50 percent compared to pre-packaged products. The product for refill will be limited to those with a manufacturing date of less than 100 days.
“We decided to run the refill station to better meet the demand of the times requiring a wider variety of sales methods and the promotion of refill products,” the company said.
